About Me

Welcome to Coffee & Grace. I can’t tell you how happy I am that you took the time to visit. Being a new Mom has taught me a lot, and one of the most important lessons I have learned thus far is – we are truly better Mother’s together.

My journey to motherhood didn’t come easy. My husband and I got married in 2013 on a beautiful fall day in September. We were surrounded by our closest friends and family as we exchanged vows and officially started our life together as husband and wife.

It was never a question of if, but rather when we would start our family. After 8 months of trying with no luck, I felt in my heart that perhaps there was a problem and went to see my doctor to get some answers. In that moment I had no idea the adventure that was about to begin.

Here I am, 6 years later, with two beautiful children (5 months apart) that call me Mom.

During my first year of motherhood, I can’t tell you how often I felt isolated. I often questioned my ability to be a good Mom, and constantly battled with the fact that I was screwing it all up. Having two babies to look after didn’t provide me with a lot of opportunities to connect with women in person. Between keeping up with nap schedules, and the daily to-do’s, I was literally in survival mode most of the time.

During this season of life,  I started reaching out to other mom’s virtually. I started following podcasts related to motherhood, and reading books, and connecting via social media. It was through these platforms that I finally started to feel that I wasn’t alone in this journey. I wasn’t the only Mom that was struggling. I wasn’t the only Mom to feel like a failure. I wasn’t the only Mom who worried if they were doing it right. It was in this moment that I realized that the true beauty of motherhood is in all the messy, and not-so-perfect stuff, all mixed in with the great stuff. I finally allowed myself some grace. A break from trying to achieve perfection. Most importantly – I stopped comparing myself to other Mom’s.

I created Coffee & Grace as a space to share my journey through infertility and adoption. I also wanted to create a space where Moms can share stories, give advice, and truly make you feel like you are not alone on this journey. Motherhood has taught me a lot of things, and one thing I know we can all agree on is that Motherhood is so much better when you feel connected to other Mom’s.

So please, grab your lukewarm coffee and pull up a chair. I’m so glad you’re here.

XO Sonya
